I think the word “Proxy Server” is a great mystery to most people. I hope this short post will clear a few things up for people.
A proxy server is code running on a computer that allows you to channel your interaction with the web through it. For example, you can be in the US and connect up to a server in China and your IP address will tell the website you are on that you are coming from china.
There are many reasons this can be useful but in this content the reason I think most of us are going to use it is to bypass the firewall on the network we are on that block sites. So let’s say your school or work place blocks facebook or youtube. Going to the sites through a proxy will trick the firewall into allowing you to pass through.
I just recently setup my own proxy server for personal use. Feel free to use and share it with your friends. I do it because I love all my Fans =D.
If you would like to setup your own, checkout the link below.
Glype proxy script is a free-to-use, web-based proxy script written in PHP. Similar to a typical proxy server, a web-proxy script downloads requested web pages and files and forwards them back to the user. The service is provided by a web page itself, which allows instant access to the proxy without editing your browser connection settings.
